The pump is proof. What follows is much bigger

Changing State Technologies is an Auckland-based fluid dynamics company turning patented technology into commercial applications across pumping, heating, cooling and water purification.

Our first commercial product, the MPR™ Pump Module, is in commercial trials today, with a clear route to the global pump market through established OEMs.

Behind it sits a much bigger technology opportunity.

The opportunity

One breakthrough. Multiple global markets.

The markets CST is entering sit at the intersection of commercial growth and some of the world's biggest resource challenges – energy, water, climate.

Pumps are the first commercial opportunity and the entry point to a technology platform with potential across much larger global markets.

Pump market entry

Solving some of the world’s toughest resource challenges

Moving and cooling water consumes 20-30% of the world's electricity. Pump failures and inefficient systems waste power, equipment and resources. Cooling depends heavily on chemical refrigerants. And communities around the world still face increasing pressure on access to clean water.

We have the potential to change that.

  • More efficient pumping
Fewer pumps, simpler systems and technology that responds to variable demand could reduce equipment, energy use, waste and failures.
  • Cleaner cooling
CST is developing technology that uses water as the refrigerant, with the potential to replace high impact greenhouse gas (or GHG) refrigerants and recycle energy.
  • More accessible clean drinking water
Future CST technology could create a lower-energy way to produce clean water, including in communities where conventional infrastructure is difficult or uneconomic.
The model

Built to scale through OEMs

CST supplies MPR™ technology modules to pump OEMs that already have the manufacturing capability, market channels and customer relationships to take them to market.

OEMs gain a differentiated capability they can integrate into their own products. CST gains a capital-efficient route into a global market without building a vertically integrated pump manufacturer.

The module is standardised, with a regional contract manufacturing model designed to scale with OEM demand. Our own trials and case studies help build the end-user demand that pulls it through.
The moat

A breakthrough in pump physics, protected at its core.

CST's IP portfolio protects the core technology behind the MPR™ and extends into technologies currently in development, and CST's broader technology roadmap:

  • A granted US patent for the Multiphase Rotor™ and the method for holding a Stable Vapour Cavity™
  • Multiple filed provisional patents across pumping, refrigeration and distillation applications
The Future

The pump is the credential, not the whole story.

The MPR™ Pump Module is CST's first commercial application and proof that the underlying technology can create and maintain a Stable Vapour Cavity™ in real-world operating conditions.

What CST learns through commercialising the MPR™ feeds the next stage of development. Each stage builds on the technology, knowledge and IP developed before it, helping de-risk the next application while expanding the commercial opportunity.

Our roadmap

One breakthrough. Multiple technologies and applications, each building on the knowledge that came before.
Now

Pump commercialisation

Commercial trials, product development and OEM engagement.

Next

Heating & cooling

Develop and demonstrate a continuously operating water-based heat pump proof of concept.

Future

Purification & desalination

Apply the underlying technology to distillation and clean-water production.

Investment

Support the next stage of growth

Investment in CST is more than scaling a new pump technology. It's about accelerating a technology platform with the potential to use less energy, replace harmful chemicals and help produce clean water more efficiently.

The MPR™ technology is patented, working and in commercial trials. The next stage is turning that into commercial scale, while furthering development in cooling and purification.

Investment roadmap:

  • Build the team to grow the pump business across R&D, sales and marketing.
  • Scale manufacturing through regional contract partners to meet OEM demand.
  • Complete the IP pipeline, taking cooling and distillation provisionals through to grant.
  • Working capital to support the team to the next stage of growth.
